MPD Shuts Down for 48 Hours
The Maricopa Police Department (MPD) is set to close its administration building as it relocates to a new facility next door. A notice posted on the front door announced the closure dates as July 31 and August 1.
The department’s new $24.5 million, 32,000-square-foot facility is nearing completion. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 27. This state-of-the-art building will feature four holding cells, administration services, and up to 20 dispatch consoles.
Initially, MPD spokesperson Monica Williams had mentioned that the transition would occur over a weekend when administrative staff typically have days off. However, the move has been rescheduled to a Wednesday and Thursday.
During the transition period, the department advises residents to use the non-emergency phone number 520-568-3673 for any queries or concerns.
