Incumbents faring well in countywide races among Maricopa voters

Maricopa voters are signaling resistance to leadership changes down the county ticket, as reflected in a new poll conducted by InMaricopa.

With the primary election just 16 days away and early ballots already mailed, the polling results are becoming increasingly significant.

Among 304 randomly selected voters reached through text and email, 72% expressed support for incumbent Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer in the Republican primary. His opponent, Brad Miller, garnered 25% of the vote.

An additional 3% of write-in votes included whimsical options such as Elmo from Sesame Street or no preference for either candidate.

Incumbent Jill Broussard also leads in the Republican primary for Superintendent of Public Instruction, securing 71% support against Tara Walter’s 25%. Three percent of voters remain undecided.

A significant majority supports Douglas Wolf for Pinal County Assessor, with 79% backing the incumbent. Challenger December Storm Cox received 18% support, while 3% did not plan to cast a vote.

The race for Pinal County Sheriff has been influenced by outgoing Sheriff Mark Lamb’s endorsement of Ross Teeple, with Teeple leading at 70% in the three-way Republican primary. Kevin Cavanaugh, a District 1 county supervisor, is polling at 19%, and newcomer Charles “Chas” Austin Jr. at 7%. Four percent have indicated their preference for write-in candidates.
