Pool hours shift in August

The regular season at Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department pools may have ended on July 28, but the opportunity to swim isn’t over for many local residents. Eight pools in the Valley will remain open on weekends through Labor Day.

The pools—Cortez, Encanto, Maryvale, Paradise Valley, Pecos, Perry, Roosevelt, and Sunnyslope—will welcome visitors on the weekends of Aug. 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25, and Aug. 31-Sept. 2. Youth ages 17 and younger can swim for $1, except at Encanto and Sunnyslope pools, where admission is free due to their Kool Kids pool status. Adults can enjoy the facilities for $3, while seniors (age 60 and older) can swim for just $1.

Additionally, the pools offer more than just open swim sessions. Residents have access to a variety of programs, including swim lessons for both youth and adults, Jr. Lifeguard and Lifeguard Academy programs for future lifeguards, water exercise classes, and swim team activities.
