I-40 Lane Closures Near AZ-CA Border Start Tuesday: Prepare for Traffic Shifts
Drivers on Interstate 40 near the Arizona-California border should brace for delays starting Tuesday.
Roadwork will narrow the highway to one lane in each direction between Needle Mountain Road and milepost eight. Construction will occur Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., through the end of September as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) repaves the stretch.
ADOT plans to build a median crossover, improve drainage, and install new guardrails before paving work begins in the fall. This section is the first of two I-40 projects near the state line, with the second phase targeting mileposts zero through two, starting later this summer.
