DUI Suspected: Two Hospitalized After Severe Crash

The crashes happened near the intersection of 19th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix. A driver has been detained and showed “signs of impairment.”

PHOENIX — A man is under investigation for DUI following a multiple-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, according to Phoenix Police and Fire Departments.

The incidents occurred near the intersection of 19th Avenue and McDowell Road at around 8:30 p.m., close to the Arizona State Fair Grounds.

All collisions were linked to a single vehicle, whose driver, an adult male, has been taken into custody.

The driver exhibited signs of impairment and is now facing DUI charges. Two adults were transported to a local hospital for precautionary checks. Others involved suffered minor injuries and were treated on site.

The Phoenix Fire Department confirmed a total of five vehicles were impacted.

The identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
