Trump Divides Support: Taylor Robson vs. Biggs in Arizona’s Governor Race

By Matthew Holloway |
President Donald Trump has once again made headlines by issuing a split endorsement for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in Arizona. In a post on Truth Social, he endorsed both Congressman Andy Biggs and Karrin Taylor Robson, highlighting the competitive nature of the Republican race.
This marks Trump’s fifth split endorsement and the second time he has done so in Arizona. Previously, he endorsed both Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh in the 2024 Congressional Election for District 8, a move that ultimately led to both candidates winning their respective primaries.
In his post, Trump expressed his support for Robson, noting, “I like Karrin Taylor Robson of Arizona a lot, and when she asked me to endorse her, with nobody else running, I endorsed her, and was happy to do so.” However, the dynamics shifted when Congressman Biggs entered the race unexpectedly. Trump acknowledged this, stating, “When Andy Biggs decided to run for Governor, quite unexpectedly, I had a problem — Two fantastic candidates, two terrific people, two wonderful champions, and it is therefore my Great Honor TO GIVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT TO BOTH. Either one will never let you down. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
This situation reflects Trump’s approach in the 2024 GOP Primary for Congressional District 8, where he navigated a complex endorsement landscape. He initially backed Hamadeh before later endorsing Masters ahead of the critical primary.
In response to his endorsement, Congressman Biggs took to social media, expressing gratitude to Trump and reaffirming his commitment to the President’s agenda. “Thank you, @realDonaldTrump! It’s been an honor to support you and fight for your agenda since 2016,” he wrote on X. “I look forward to fighting alongside you as Governor of Arizona, the greatest state in the nation!”
Robson also reacted positively to the endorsement, stating, “THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT! Today, @realDonaldTrump reaffirmed what he told me in December when he urged me to run on stage: That he supports me & has fully endorsed my Arizona First campaign. I cannot wait to be on the 9th floor as a partner to his America First agenda. Onward!”
Trump’s trend of split endorsements extends beyond Arizona. He has previously endorsed both Tiffany Smiley and Jerrod Sessler in Washington’s 4th Congressional District in 2024, as well as Eric Schmitt and Eric Greitens in the 2022 Missouri Senate primary. His endorsement strategy continues to generate significant attention and speculation within Republican primaries across the nation.
