Tragic Shooting in South Phoenix Leaves One Dead

Phoenix police responded to a shooting call near 7th Avenue and Buckeye Road on Sunday morning.

PHOENIX — A man is dead following a shooting in south Phoenix, authorities said.

Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting call around 11:30 a.m. near 7th Avenue and Buckeye Road. When officers got to the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound in a vehicle, police said.

Officers also found a woman who had information regarding the shooting. The fire department treated the man, but he died at the scene from his injuries.

Officers detained a man nearby who is believed to be involved in the shooting. No other information was provided.
