Napier: 'Trust & confidence' in endorsing Lappin to be Pima County sheriff

Mark Napier, who served as the Republican sheriff of Pima County from 2017 to 2021, has officially endorsed Heather Lappin for the sheriff’s position.

“It was my honor to serve the people of our county as your sheriff. It is now my honor to endorse the only candidate who I believe can best serve us in that office. It is without reservation that I endorse Heather Lappin to be the next sheriff of Pima County,” Napier stated.

Npaier highlighted Lappin’s qualifications, emphasizing her formal education, executive leadership training, and ethical foundation. According to Napier, these attributes are crucial for leading the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, an organization that navigates a complex criminal justice environment. He stressed the importance of trust and confidence in law enforcement, particularly in current times, and affirmed that Lappin possesses the qualities needed to lead the department effectively.

“As your sheriff, I observed Heather as one of my commanders. I noted that she always maintained a professional, warm, polite, and friendly bearing with everyone. She is respected by her subordinates and liked by her peers. She earns this respect and affection by the quality of her conduct as a commander,” Napier commented. He also praised her commitment to continuous professional development through education and training, which he believes enhances her qualifications to serve as sheriff.

In Napier’s view, Lappin’s commitment to professional growth and her leadership qualities make her the most suitable candidate for the role. He concluded his endorsement by urging the community to support Lappin as the next sheriff of Pima County.
