Safely Dispose of Hazardous Household Items at Tucson’s Special Collection Event This Saturday
Tucson residents will have the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste this Saturday, July 13. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Rodeo Grounds, located at 4823 S. 6th Ave.
The city’s Environmental and General Services Department will accept a variety of items, including cleaning products, batteries, paint, propane cylinders, pool chemicals, printer cartridges, auto batteries, and oil filters.
Residents can bring up to three boxes of old documents for shredding. However, the city will not accept unknown chemicals, medical waste, business waste, explosives, ammunition, and radioactive materials. Dried paint and alkaline batteries can go in regular trash.
If unable to attend, items can be disposed of at the Los Reales landfill on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., excluding Saturdays of the monthly collection events.
The program is free for Tucson residents. Those from nearby suburbs or unincorporated Pima County will incur a $10 fee. Proof of residence is required via a driver’s license or current utility bill.
The next collection event is scheduled for August 10 at Pima College West, 2202 W. Anklam Rd. Additional dates and detailed information are available online.
