Arizona State Representative Lisa Fink is advocating for increased state sovereignty through a series of newly proposed bills. In a recent op-ed titled “Make Arizona Sovereign Again,” Fink outlines her vision for reducing federal influence in key areas affecting the state’s governance and economy.

The first bill, HB 2059, aims to exempt Arizona and its state agency employees from federal regulations impacting critical natural resource industries, such as mining and oil. Fink contends that these regulations often conflict with the U.S. Constitution, asserting that Arizona should have the freedom to prioritize its economic interests and environmental stewardship.

In her proposed HB 2060, Fink emphasizes the importance of stringent adherence to laws regarding voter registration and identification. She advocates for securing Arizona’s voting processes against outside interference, which she believes is essential for maintaining public trust in elections.

The final piece of legislation, HB 2056, seeks to protect Arizona’s autonomy from federal environmental initiatives, particularly concerning controversial practices like geoengineering. Fink claims these measures, executed by the federal government and other organizations, threaten the state’s natural resources and must be addressed to uphold the interests of Arizonans.

Closing her op-ed, Fink asserted that Arizona will not accept unconstitutional federal overreach. She emphasized the bills’ roles in reinforcing the state’s Tenth Amendment rights, arguing that the legislature’s focus on energy independence, election integrity, and environmental protection ultimately puts Arizona’s interests first.
