This week, U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani from southern Arizona was appointed as Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Committee, a significant role announced by Chairman Tom Cole of Oklahoma.
Ciscomani expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am honored to be selected as Vice Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, which is responsible for funding the Department of Homeland Security. This position will allow me to better address the primary concern of my constituents — securing the Southern border.”
He emphasized the importance of collaborating with fellow lawmakers to restore order, mentioning, “I deeply appreciate Chairman Cole for his trust and look forward to working with him, Chairman Amodei, and my colleagues to reverse course after four years of chaos. We must support our personnel in the Department of Homeland Security and protect our communities.”
Chairman Cole endorsed Ciscomani’s capabilities, remarking, “Congressman Ciscomani has been a champion for border security. His experience and expertise will be crucial as we work to secure the southern border and support the brave men and women who serve in the Department of Homeland Security.”
In addition to his new assignment, Ciscomani serves on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee and is an active member of various caucuses, including the Border Security Caucus and the School Choice Caucus.
Having been re-elected in November for a second term, he was sworn into office earlier this month to represent southern Arizona.
