Police: Havasu Man’s Karaoke Stage Meltdown Causes uproar

A recent incident during a karaoke night at a Lake Havasu City bar has resulted in felony charges for a 29-year-old man. Authorities report that Matthew F. Quinn was discovered with methamphetamine and a firearm following an altercation on August 11.
The events unfolded around 11 p.m. at a venue located on the 2100 block of McCulloch Boulevard. According to police, Quinn, who was performing at the time, faced ridicule from the audience, prompting him to confront fellow patrons. This escalation led to his ejection from the establishment by security staff.
After being removed, Quinn allegedly attempted to reenter the bar multiple times before getting into a dispute with another individual outside. Eyewitnesses reported that he threw a punch during this confrontation.
A patrol officer nearby witnessed part of the altercation, and a witness approached the officer, alerting him to the events. Shortly afterward, a security guard indicated that Quinn was trying to flee the scene.
Quinn was seen running westbound on McCulloch Boulevard. Upon the arrival of additional law enforcement, he ceased his flight and approached the officers.
While speaking with officers, Quinn showed signs of heavy intoxication and struggled to remain upright. He disclosed that he had a firearm, which officers subsequently located tucked in his waistband.
After being detained, officers reviewed video footage provided by the bar’s security. The recordings corroborated the allegations against Quinn.
Quinn faced multiple charges, including disorderly conduct, assault, and misconduct involving a weapon. During a search, police discovered 0.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his possession.
Following his indictment on August 13 for possession of dangerous drugs and related charges, Quinn posted a $25,000 bond on August 20. He eventually reached a plea deal with Mohave County prosecutors, resulting in guilty pleas for lesser charges, while the drug possession charge was dismissed.
In the court’s final decision, Quinn received a sentence of unsupervised probation, was fined over $280, and was mandated to attend substance abuse counseling.
