Tragic Heroism: Mother Passes Away Following Devastating Fire That Claimed Her Two Daughters
TEMPE, Ariz. — A tragic fire in a Tempe mobile home on August 25 has claimed a fifth victim. Valerie Gonzalez, 22, succumbed to severe injuries on Friday after battling for her life for over two weeks.
Family members, including her aunt Jennifer Gonzalez, expressed disbelief over the incident. “We don’t know why this happened,” she said. “She was barely starting her life, she was only 22.”
Valerie’s life revolved around her daughters, Ariaelly, known as Rose, and Ellany Ruiz. “They were just like the best family you could ever see,” her aunt remarked, highlighting the deep affection shared among them. The devastating event left her family reeling, as flames engulfed their home that tragic night.
In addition to Valerie, the fire also claimed the lives of her two daughters, her boyfriend, and his mother. “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it,” said Michelle Gonzalez, another aunt. Initially, Valerie was the sole survivor but was later admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
As the family reflects on their loss, they remember Valerie’s vibrant personality and the memories they cherished. “It’s every memory that we cherish at this moment in time because we didn’t expect her to be gone,” Jennifer shared.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. Jennifer expressed frustration, stating, “That’s what’s killing us because we had the hope of Valerie surviving and letting us know what happened.”
In light of this tragedy, the family is eager to promote fire safety awareness. “Check your fire alarms,” Michelle urged, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in preventing similar incidents.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist the Gonzalez family with funeral expenses during this difficult time.
