AZFEC: Sean Duffy Takes a Stand Against Woke Transportation Policies at USDOT

By the Arizona Free Enterprise Club |
President Joe Biden’s administration has faced significant criticism over its impact on national security and the economy. However, the repercussions of his policies on transportation infrastructure are also notable. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has pushed a progressive agenda that many argue undermines traditional transportation principles.
In recent years, environmental advocates and urban planners have collaborated to reshape transportation policies nationwide. This shift accelerated during Biden’s tenure, where rhetoric framing roads as inherently biased proliferated. The administration’s emphasis on the Green New Deal has led to substantial federal grants being tied to the acceptance of these new ideologies by state and local governments.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump is now advocating for a return to conventional transportation policies. In a brief period since Secretary Sean Duffy’s appointment, there has been a discernible shift away from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, along with efforts to eliminate what some consider excessive environmental regulations and inefficient spending.
