Record highs possible by Friday

PHOENIX — Above-normal temperatures are expected to persist into early next week, with temperatures potentially reaching the 80s as we approach the weekend. A dominant high-pressure system is set to maintain dry and warm conditions across Arizona.

On Thursday, Phoenix will experience a high of 77 degrees, while much of the high country will remain in the 60s. This upward trend continues, as Friday’s forecast predicts a high of 80 degrees, which would break a record set in 1989 by one degree.

However, this brief warm spell will give way to cooler temperatures, with highs returning to the lower 70s starting Sunday due to a system moving in from the north.

The seven-day forecast is as follows:

THURSDAY: 77/49 – Sunny, pleasant

FRIDAY: 80/51 – Partly sunny, record warmth

SATURDAY: 75/51 – Mostly sunny, pleasant

SUNDAY: 71/45 – Partly sunny, cooler

MONDAY: 72/43 – Mostly sunny, pleasant

TUESDAY: 70/44 – Mostly sunny, cooler

WEDNESDAY: 71/45 – Mostly sunny, pleasant
