Morning Rain Gives Way to Partly Sunny Skies and 70s Warmth

PHOENIX — Arizona residents are bracing for a significant change in weather as another round of heavy rain, strong winds, and mountain snow is set to arrive on Thursday. Following a brief period of light sprinkles early Wednesday morning, the state is expected to see partly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 70s, yet that tranquility will soon be disrupted.
Multiple weather advisories have already been issued for the region, alerting citizens to the potential for damaging winds and significant snowfall. Thursday is officially designated as a Weather Impact Alert Day, anticipating the arrival of thunderstorms and gusty winds later in the day.
In the high country, snow levels are projected to drop to 4,000 feet. A winter storm warning is in effect for elevations above 6,000 feet, where up to a foot of fresh snow is possible in the tallest peaks. Specifically, forecasts indicate accumulations of 8-14 inches at 7,000 feet, and 3-6 inches at 5,500 feet, along with around 0.25 inches of rain in valley areas.
Friday should bring clearer weather conditions to the state, though temperatures are expected to remain cooler than usual for mid-March.

- Wednesday: 73/57 – Partly cloudy with light morning showers.
