Jealous wife jailed in husband’s attempted stabbing: cops

In a shocking incident of domestic conflict, a 72-year-old woman in Homestead, Arizona, was arrested after she allegedly attacked her 59-year-old husband with a concealed knife on Thursday afternoon. The Maricopa Police Department reported that this unusual confrontation was sparked by claims of infidelity, which officials described as unsubstantiated.

The accused, identified as Sharon Rueckert, allegedly ambushed her husband, Kurt Kodera, while he was in his home office. According to police, she approached him with a knife hidden behind her back and made multiple attempts to stab him, fueled by jealousy.

In a remarkable act of self-defense, Kodera used a tablet computer to shield himself from the assault. Police reports documented that the tablet bore three stab marks, evidencing the intensity of the attack.

Revealing further details, authorities noted that Kodera retaliated by striking Rueckert with the tablet. He then brandished a BB gun to intimidate her, which she perceived as a real firearm, heightening her fear for her life.

Following the altercation, Rueckert was taken into custody on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. She now faces a prison sentence ranging from five to 15 years. Though Kodera was not arrested, he has been referred for charges including assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

The case highlights the complexities and dangers of domestic disputes, where emotions can escalate into violence, involving both parties in legal trouble.
