Trump’s Surprising Double Endorsement: Biggs & Robson Compete for Arizona’s Governorship

Karrin Taylor Robson’s campaign for the 2026 Arizona gubernatorial race gained traction with President Donald Trump’s earlier endorsement. This was a tactical move following her loss in the 2022 GOP primary to Trump-endorsed Kari Lake.
However, Trump’s support has complicating factors. He recently endorsed Robson’s primary rival, Andy Biggs, a long-time Trump ally and four-term Congressman from Gilbert, through a post on Truth Social.
In his statement, Trump praised both candidates, stating, “I had a problem — Two fantastic candidates… it is therefore my Great Honor TO GIVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT TO BOTH.” He previously endorsed Robson before she officially entered the race.
Biggs announced his candidacy for governor in late January. This is not the first instance of Trump endorsing two Republicans in a crucial election. In the 2022 Republican primary for attorney general, he first backed Abe Hamadeh and later supported Blake Masters shortly before the election.
Despite the dual endorsement, both candidates expressed gratitude. Robson thanked Trump on X, claiming his support had been reaffirmed since he encouraged her to run. Biggs echoed this sentiment, highlighting his ongoing dedication to Trump’s agenda.
Neither campaign has publicly addressed the implications of the dual endorsement yet. The winner of the upcoming primary is expected to challenge Gov. Katie Hobbs, who narrowly defeated Lake by over 17,000 votes in 2022.
