Sacaton woman, 39, apparently died in SR 347 crash this morning

Early on May 29, 2025, officers from the Maricopa Police Department blocked northbound traffic on State Route 347 following a serious crash. The lead law enforcement agency has declined to disclose whether the incident resulted in a fatality, citing confidentiality.

Witnesses reported that the crash led to fatalities, identifying a 39-year-old woman from Sacaton as the victim. This information aligns with data from public records and has been confirmed by a source close to the family.

Efforts to gather details about the crash have been met with resistance, as multiple agencies directed inquiries away from themselves. A spokesperson from the Arizona Department of Transportation referred questions to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which then redirected them to the Gila River Police Department (GRPD).

After extensive attempts to contact the GRPD, a receptionist finally conveyed that the department could not comment on the incident due to the absence of their public information officer. This officer, Teaya Enos, has previously confirmed fatal incidents on State Route 347 but did not provide information this time around.

AZDPS spokesperson Bart Graves emphasized that each agency maintains jurisdiction over its investigations, reiterating the need for information to come from the appropriate source. Meanwhile, the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office has clarified that it did not handle any fatal cases related to the crash.

In a deeper investigation, the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner recorded the Sacaton woman as the first fatality in the county for that day. This incident correlates with the crash reported at 1:46 a.m. Details about the transport of the body suggest a potential case transition to Maricopa County, a precedent established in prior incidents.

InMaricopa has reached out to the Maricopa County coroner but has been informed that information remains confidential due to the ongoing investigation. The identity of the victim will not be released until official confirmation is received.
