Tragic Fatality: Motorcyclist Loses Life in Riggs Collision Last Night

A multi-vehicle accident on Riggs Road, near State Route 347, resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on the evening of December 2, 2024. The crash, described by officials as a “serious collision,” occurred just before 7:30 p.m., prompting a significant closure of a four-mile stretch of Riggs Road between State Route 347 and Interstate 10.

According to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, the deceased was identified as a 38-year-old man from Maricopa Meadows. At this time, the name of the victim has not been disclosed by InMaricopa.

As reported by the Gila River Police Department, emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene. Eyewitness accounts indicate that multiple vehicles, including a white van, a Nissan Altima, and the motorcycle, were involved in the incident. “Gila River Fire arrived on scene and advised that the operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased,” stated GRPD spokesperson Teaya Enos. However, she was unable to provide further details about the incident, including the identity of the deceased.

The road remained closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation, causing significant disruptions for motorists in the area.
