Pet of the Month: Itty-bitty Bessy needs a foster

The Arizona Humane Society (AHS), a nonprofit organization established 67 years ago, is currently facing an unprecedented surge in pet admissions. This summer, their shelters and Foster Hero homes are host to over 1,600 sick, injured, and abused animals.

Bessy, a six-week-old domestic shorthair kitten, is a prime example of their urgent need. She was transferred from a local emergency clinic to AHS after being found as a sick stray. AHS’s trauma hospital diagnosed her with a minor kitty cold. After receiving initial care in the Kitten Nursery, Bessy is now ready to move to a Foster Hero home to complete her recovery.

Foster Heroes play a crucial role in AHS’s mission. By fostering pets like Bessy, they help ease overcapacity issues, enabling AHS to rescue and care for more animals in need. Foster opportunities are designed to fit various family dynamics and lifestyles.
