The Unique Charm of Heritage at Carefree: Discover What Makes It Exceptional
Marielle D. Marne
CAREFREE – After a late-night fall due to vertigo, Nona Hudspeth received warm support at the Heritage at Carefree Retirement Living. “They took wonderful care of me,” she shared, highlighting the welcoming environment filled with hugs and encouraging notes. Born in Mississippi and later moving to Texas, Hudspeth relocated to Arizona following a stroke. Her daughter, a Terravita resident, was advised that the Heritage would be the perfect fit for her mother.
Reflecting on her experiences, Hudspeth remarked, “This is the prettiest place I’ve been,” pointing to the scenic beauty of Carefree. Beyond its aesthetics, she stays active with various daily engagements. “I was at exercise this morning, then I went right to lunch,” she commented. Having spent a year and a half at Heritage, she noted, “There are so many activities. We go to a different place for lunch every week,” mentioning El Encanto as the next destination.
The vibrant community spirit is evident in their activities. Recently, residents enjoyed a movie outing to see Reagan, and live music graced the halls with a violin performance from a resident from Ukraine. “The music is wonderful! They play BINGO a lot,” Hudspeth added with enthusiasm.
Hudspeth appreciates the family-oriented management by Donna and Marin Holbura. She expressed her satisfaction, saying, “I love my apartment. I can’t think of any improvement that can be done.” The supportive staff enhances her experience, readily offering assistance for anything from meals to activities.
For those considering retirement living or seeking additional support as they age, the Heritage provides various care levels, from independent living to memory care.
