TONTO BASIN, Ariz. — Tragedy struck in Gila County late Saturday night when two teenagers became victims of a shooting in a remote area. The Gila County Sheriff’s Office reported that both teens, aged 15, sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

Upon arrival, deputies and emergency crews from the Tonto Basin Fire Department found one teen still breathing. He was subsequently airlifted to a trauma center in Phoenix, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that one 15-year-old male shot the other before turning the weapon on himself, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. A group of seven individuals, all aged between 15 and 20, were present during the incident, with most reportedly having been drinking prior to the shooting.

Authorities have yet to release additional details as the investigation remains ongoing. This incident highlights persistent concerns regarding youth violence and access to firearms.
