Avoid Smith Enke at JWP overnight for light pole install

Overnight construction will commence tonight at the intersection of Smith Enke Road and John Wayne Parkway as the city undertakes new traffic pole installations. The City of Maricopa announced that work will begin at 8 p.m. and continue into the following morning.

Motorists using this intersection may experience delays during this period. This construction is part of a larger six-month project aimed at enhancing traffic flow in an area known for its congestion.

Much of the ongoing work has taken place to the east of John Wayne Parkway along Smith Enke Road. Planned improvements include the addition of safety features, dual left turn lanes, and a dedicated “free flow” right-turn lane onto northbound John Wayne Parkway. City officials have stressed that these enhancements are intended to significantly increase the intersection’s capacity to accommodate larger traffic volumes.
