Senior Shines with 4 RBIs as Roberts Dominates, Pima Baseball Sweeps Mesa

The Pima Community College baseball team improved its record with a successful road sweep against Mesa Community College on Saturday. With this win, Pima now stands at 22-6 overall and 10-6 in ACCAC conference play, while Mesa’s record drops to 17-10 and 8-8 in conference.
Sophomore Collin Senior led the offensive charge, going 5 for 8 with four RBIs and two runs scored across both games. Other standout players included Caden Richards with a 4 for 8 performance, and Nolan Ganter, who finished 3 for 9 with three RBIs and three runs. Sophomores Maclain Roberts and Nate Gray secured victories on the mound.
In the first game, the Aztecs defeated the Thunderbirds 6-1. Ganter struck first for Pima with a two-run homer in the first inning, quickly putting the team ahead 2-0. Freshman Jackson Glueck added an RBI double in the third inning, extending the lead to 3-0. Senior contributed with RBI singles in both the fifth and sixth innings, closing his day at the plate 2 for 4. The Aztecs held Mesa to just one run, with Roberts pitching six shutout innings, allowing only two hits.
Game statistics showed Pima with 7 hits, while Mesa managed just 3. Roberts recorded his fourth win of the season, demonstrating effective command on the mound.
The second game was a tougher contest, with the Aztecs prevailing 10-6. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, courtesy of an RBI single from Ganter and a sacrifice fly by Barta. Senior continued his strong performance, delivering multiple hits and driving in runs as Pima built a commanding lead.
Although Mesa responded and closed the gap to 4-2, Pima’s offense erupted in the sixth inning, scoring five more runs. Senior recorded his fourth RBI single, while Zach Plasschaert contributed with a two-run single that bolstered the lead to 8-2.
Senior finished the game with a 3 for 4 batting line, while Plasschaert went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Freshman Leon Cereceres had a notable game with two runs scored. Nate Gray earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing only four hits and one earned run.
The Aztecs are set to play against Paradise Valley Community College on Monday, with the first game starting at noon at the West Campus Aztec Field.
