Senior centers offer dementia care support

The City of Phoenix Human Services Department is enhancing support for older adults through versatile programs across its 15 senior centers. Among these offerings, the newly introduced Memory Café aims to create a supportive community for individuals navigating early to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

Memory Café serves as a welcoming space where participants can share experiences, foster connections, and engage in meaningful activities. Each session includes structured events such as music, art projects, or informative talks from guest speakers, complemented by snacks and refreshments.

At the Devonshire Senior Center, located at 2802 E. Devonshire Ave., Memory Café meets on the first Thursday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. For inquiries, call 602-262-7807. The Sunnyslope Senior Center, situated at 802 E. Vogel Ave., hosts the event on the first Wednesday of the month during the same time frame; reach them at 602-262-7572. Individuals interested in attending can register by calling 602-534-5750 or emailing memory.cafe@phoenix.gov.

The city’s senior centers offer various programs and activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Membership, available for $20 annually for Phoenix residents and $40 for non-residents, grants access to all centers. For further details, call 602-262-4520 or visit the official Phoenix senior centers webpage.
