Sedona Set to Welcome Back Youth Baseball

Registration for the youth baseball league, organized by Showtime Sportz in collaboration with the city of Sedona, is open until Monday, June 30. This program caters to children aged 5 to 8, offering T-ball for 5- and 6-year-olds and baseball for those aged 7 and 8.
Bruce Jurecki, owner of Showtime Sportz, reflected on the initiative: “We’ve been contemplating a baseball program for a year or two. After several discussions with the city, we’re excited to finally make this a reality for our kids.”
The league will require participants to commit to one to two practices and one game each Wednesday evening at Posse Grounds Park. The schedule may expand to accommodate the number of registrants.
“Showtime Sportz aims to create opportunities for kids to engage in sports,” Jurecki stated. “Sports foster social interactions and personal growth. For younger children, just getting out there is critical. The greatest skill development often occurs between their first and second years, as they return with a better understanding of the game.”
The T-ball season includes six games. Registration fees are set at $95, with a reduced rate of $85 for siblings, and this includes a uniform. Players must supply their own glove, cleats, and bats.
In contrast, the baseball program has a registration fee of $135, or $125 for additional siblings, and features eight regular-season games along with single-elimination playoffs. While uniforms are provided, players need to bring their own equipment. An all-star game and individual awards will also be included.
Player evaluations are scheduled for Monday, July 7, at the Posse Grounds Park baseball field. T-ball evaluations will occur from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by baseball evaluations from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Parents will receive updates on team placements and practice schedules by the end of July.
Jurecki emphasized the need for at least four teams, each with 12 to 15 players. Volunteer coaches are still needed to support the program.
Games are slated to commence on Wednesday, August 20, concluding on Wednesday, October 22. For more details and registration, interested parties can visit showtimesportz.com or reach out to Bruce Jurecki at (928) 254-8869.
