Romero to offer annual 'Report to Tucsonans' next week

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero is set to deliver her annual “Report to Tucsonans” on Tuesday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. This presentation will take place at the Tucson Convention Center, located at 260 S. Church Ave.

During the report, Romero will address the current state of the city. Admission is free, and residents interested in attending can RSVP online.

Since her election as mayor in 2019, Romero has been advocating for a 10-year, half-cent sales tax aimed at funding public safety, affordable housing, and various city services. The upcoming election for this proposal, known as Prop 414, is scheduled for March 11, with ballots being mailed to all Tucson voters.

Additionally, 2024 is an election year for the Tucson City Council. A primary election in August will precede the general election in November, where residents will choose representatives for Ward 6, which will have an open seat, Ward 5, presently held by Democrat Richard Fimbres, and Ward 3, where Democrat Kevin Dahl seeks re-election for a second term.

Voters across Pima County will also consider an extension of the half-cent sales tax for the Regional Transportation Authority in November.
