On December 5, the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) inaugurated the nation’s first Cox Innovation Lab dedicated to teacher training in Phoenix. This initiative was made possible through a generous $25,000 donation from Cox Communications.
The lab features specialized areas focused on Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, robotics, virtual reality, microelectronics, coding, and graphic design. These resources align with Arizona State Standards in various subjects, including Science and Math.
AED CEO Kim Graham highlighted the lab’s significance, stating, “This is an exciting addition to our new educator-training space. It allows us to provide hands-on experience with leading technologies and then support the products of that training.” Teachers will have access to the lab’s resources during designated hours, ensuring they can realize their innovative projects.
Dr. Pam Roggeman, AEF board president, also emphasized the importance of this initiative. “We know teachers struggle to afford classroom supplies. The Cox Innovation Lab encourages knowledge-based creativity without the worry of having to pay out-of-pocket for consumable items,” she said.
The AEF, established in 1983 by Carolyn Warner, has consistently championed public education and supported teachers across Arizona, reaching over 500,000 students and educators annually.
The Cox Innovation Lab is located at 326 E. Coronado Road, Suite 207. For further details, visit www.azedfoundation.org or reach out via email at info@azedfoundation.org.
