Rep. Biggs Takes the Helm of Crime and Federal Surveillance Subcommittee Again

U.S. Representative Andy Biggs is returning to a prominent role as he takes the helm of a crucial subcommittee in the House of Representatives. Announced last week, Biggs will serve another term as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance for the 119th Congress. This marks his third consecutive term in this capacity, reinforcing his influence in legislative matters.
In his statement, Biggs expressed pride in his leadership position, emphasizing the subcommittee’s commitment to tackling issues related to federal law enforcement. “It’s an honor to serve once again as Chairman,” Biggs remarked. He criticized the Biden administration’s approach, claiming it has weaponized law enforcement against law-abiding citizens, alongside policies that he argues jeopardize community safety. Biggs pledged that the subcommittee is prepared to advocate for change upon its reconvening in January.
He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of his colleagues and staff, stating, “The Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee wouldn’t be the workhorse we are without them.” Looking ahead, he expressed eagerness to work with other leaders, including Chairman Jordan and President Trump, to pursue legislation aimed at enhancing public safety.
Having been sworn in for his fifth term on January 3, 2025, Biggs has established himself as a staunch ally of former President Trump. His conservative legislative approach positions him as a significant figure in the House, especially as his party navigates a slim majority in Congress. Observers will be keen to see how Biggs influences policy and legislative efforts in the coming two years.
