In a significant political development, Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee has endorsed Chris Lopez, a Republican candidate for the State House in Legislative District 16. This endorsement could bolster Lopez’s chances against incumbent Keith Seaman, a Democrat from Casa Grande.

The announcement came via a text from Lopez’s campaign to InMaricopa, following a brief graphic showcasing both Yee and Lopez. Yee, who was the only Republican to secure a statewide election win in the 2022 midterms, has established a reputation for being a highly approved state-level Republican leader.

Yee’s support is seen as part of a broader strategy to enhance conservative representation within the state legislature. Daniel Scarpinato, a spokesperson for the Arizonans Protecting Freedom (APF) committee, noted that Yee is particularly invested in Lopez’s campaign to counterbalance Governor Katie Hobbs’ policies. “This election is very important to the future of our state,” Scarpinato said.

Lopez, who resides in Casa Grande, did not provide immediate comments regarding Yee’s endorsement. His campaign aims to provide a conservative voice in state governance and address the needs of District 16 voters.
