Plasschaert Just Shy of the Cycle as Pima Baseball Stages Epic Comeback at Phoenix College

The Pima Community College baseball team showcased a strong offensive performance in the latter innings during an ACCAC conference matchup against Phoenix College on Saturday. The Aztecs, currently ranked No. 9, improved their season record to 42-11 and 26-11 in ACCAC play after defeating the Bears 6-3.
Pima fell behind early, as Phoenix College took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, capitalizing on the Aztecs’ struggle to find their rhythm at the plate, managing just one hit through the first five innings. However, the tide turned in the sixth inning when freshman Jackson Glueck drew a walk, and teammate Zach Plasschaert followed with a double, setting the stage for a rally.
Plasschaert’s performance was notable; he finished the game going 3 for 4, hitting a double, a home run, and contributing three RBIs along with two runs scored. Jones also had a strong outing, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Glueck and Senior added to the offensive momentum, with both finishing with one hit and contributing to the Aztecs’ success.
On the mound, freshman Brady Hall earned the win in relief, pitching two innings and striking out three while allowing three hits. Sophomore Tsubasa Tomii secured his fourth save, effectively closing the game by striking out three batters in the ninth. Lucas Casey, also a sophomore, started the game, allowing two earned runs on eight hits over five innings.
With this victory, Pima continued to build their momentum as they prepare for a doubleheader against Glendale Community College on Tuesday, with the first game set to begin at noon.
