Pima Baseball’s Dominant 9-Game Win Streak Ends in a Shutout Loss at Paradise Valley

The Pima Community College baseball team faced a tough loss on Saturday, falling 7-0 to Paradise Valley Community College in a single ACCAC conference matchup held in Phoenix. Ranked No. 9, the Aztecs entered the game with a solid record of 39-10 but saw their nine-game winning streak come to an abrupt end.
Despite the outcome, the Aztecs managed to collect five hits throughout the game, leaving eight runners stranded on base. A notable moment came in the fourth inning, where back-to-back singles from sophomores Caden Richards and Nolan Ganter provided a glimmer of hope, only to be followed by three consecutive outs that extinguished the scoring opportunity.
The Pumas capitalized on their chances, scoring one run in the first inning, followed by three runs in the third, two in the seventh, and another in the eighth. The striking performance kept the Aztecs in check throughout the game.
Richards led the team’s offensive efforts, finishing with a 2-for-3 performance, including a walk. Ganter also contributed with a 1-for-3 showing, while Andrew Grenert added another hit to his account. Freshman Sean Barta concluded the game with a 1-for-4 effort, with fellow freshmen Jackson Glueck and Ernie Alvarez contributing a walk each.
The Aztecs’ pitching efforts were spearheaded by sophomore Maclain Roberts, who took the loss after pitching five and one-third innings. He surrendered four runs (two earned) on four hits, notching four strikeouts alongside one walk, all on 85 pitches.
Looking ahead, Pima Community College will return to their home field on Tuesday to host Chandler-Gilbert Community College for another crucial ACCAC conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
