Tim Stringham, the Democratic candidate for Maricopa County Recorder, is making headlines with his impressive out-of-state fundraising efforts. Recently, he shared a significant milestone on his X account, announcing contributions from over 3,900 individual donors across 49 states, including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. Stringham emphasized the nationwide backing he has received to protect elections in Maricopa County, stating, “Thousands of people nationwide are standing with us.”

In light of the upcoming election, Stringham urged supporters to join his campaign, saying, “But with only 30 days until Election Day and three days until ballots drop, we’re in the final sprint.” His call to action aims to galvanize resources for protecting local electoral processes.

However, Stringham’s fundraising announcement has drawn criticism. Detractors have pointed out the lack of local support in his campaign. Republican State Representative Alexander Kolodin highlighted this concern, questioning, “Tim Stringham wants to be MARICOPA County Recorder yet is ‘proud’ that his campaign is fueled by out-of-state money?”

Despite the backlash, Stringham appears to maintain a lead in the polls. A September survey conducted by Noble Predictive Insights indicated he is ahead of his Republican opponent, Justin Heap, by four percentage points. Among independents, Stringham’s margin is even more significant, with a fifteen percent lead, though 35 percent of that voter segment remains undecided.

As the election date approaches, the dynamics of local versus national support in Stringham’s campaign could influence the final outcome. The race for Maricopa County Recorder continues to heat up, capturing the attention of both state and national observers.
