In a recent address to Arizona lawmakers, Border Czar Tom Homan asserted that he and President Trump fully support extensive measures to deport individuals residing in the U.S. illegally, regardless of prior offenses.

During his remarks to a mostly empty legislative chamber, Homan expressed his views on illegal immigration, attributing the ongoing crisis to what he described as four years of unchecked immigration under the Biden administration.

He highlighted the presence of numerous undocumented individuals with criminal records, asserting, “We need to find every single one of them and get them out of this country.” Homan acknowledged that while many migrants claim asylum, the legal system often finds most of those claims to be fraudulent.

“Nine out of 10 (asylum seekers) will end up with an order of removal,” he said, emphasizing the need for strict enforcement. Homan called for adherence to due process but maintained that those ordered deported must leave the country.

The response from lawmakers was divided. Notably, some Democrats walked out during his speech, holding signs with the names of individuals they claim have been affected by immigration enforcement. Homan criticized their exit, questioning their concern for issues like child trafficking, which he connected to current immigration practices.

He referenced tragic cases, such as the murder of Laken Riley, to illustrate the consequences of inadequate immigration enforcement. “Tom Homan ain’t shutting up and Tom Homan ain’t going away,” he declared, promising continued support for aggressive immigration policies.

Homan claimed that under Trump’s administration, illegal border crossings have significantly decreased, a contrast he drawn with Biden’s policies. He asserted, “President Trump did in five weeks what Joe Biden didn’t, wouldn’t, [or] didn’t even attempt to do in four years.” This success, he argued, has led to safer conditions along the border.

Highlighting the dangers of undocumented immigration, Homan raised concerns about women’s safety and drug trafficking. He maintained that prioritizing the deportation of criminals does not exclude those who are in the country illegally.

Furthermore, he criticized “sanctuary cities” that resist cooperation with federal immigration efforts. Homan insisted that such policies do not protect victims of crime but rather endanger communities.

In his defense of federal measures including the Alien Enemies Act, he dismissed attempts to block the deportation of gang members, asserting that judges should not order the return of individuals deemed a threat to public safety. Homan commended Arizona lawmakers for their legislative initiatives to enhance local enforcement of federal immigration laws.

Among these initiatives is SB1164, which mandates local and state law enforcement assist in federal immigration actions, including the honoring of ICE detainers. The bill recently gained preliminary approval in the House and aligns with the administration’s broader strategy to address immigration enforcement.
