Morgan Pepe Claims Second NJCAA Outdoor All-American Title as 4×800 Team Takes 7th at Nationals

The Pima Community College women’s track and field team commenced their participation in the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships on Thursday at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Currently ranked No. 8, the Aztecs accumulated six points on the opening day, placing them 14th out of 21 teams.
Sophomore Morgan Pepe from Ironwood Ridge High School distinguished herself by securing fifth place in the pole vault with a height of 3.51 meters (11 feet, 6.25 inches). This achievement marks her as a two-time NJCAA Outdoor All-American and a three-time All-American overall, contributing four points to the team’s total.
Additionally, the 4×800 relay team composed of sophomore Linda Rivero (Desert View HS), freshman Ella Allred (Benson HS), sophomore Alyssa Perez (Agua Fria HS), and sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) set a personal record. They finished seventh with a time of 9:32.63, earning All-American status and adding two points to the team’s score.
Other notable results on day one included Morgan Mosley (Shadow Ridge HS), who placed 12th in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.80 meters (147 feet), and Layla Konski (Ironwood Ridge HS), who also took 12th in the long jump, registering a leap of 5.38 meters (17 feet, 7.75 inches).
The Aztecs will continue their competition on Friday, with events starting at 7 a.m. Tucson time.
