Monsoon Tempest Plunges Thousands into Darkness in the Valley
PHOENIX — Thousands of APS customers faced significant disruptions early this morning after powerful monsoon storms swept through the Valley, causing extensive damage to the electrical infrastructure.
According to the APS Outage Map, nearly 4,000 customers were initially affected by the outages. As of 7:55 a.m., 2,995 customers remained without power. The company estimates full restoration between 8 a.m. and noon.
Outages peaked at around 6:05 a.m., with 4,708 customers reported without power. APS crews are actively working to repair downed power poles and restore the electrical service as quickly as possible. “Our crews are working to restore the outage caused by downed power poles,” the company stated online.
Residents affected by these outages for more than 10 hours are eligible for reimbursement for the purchase of up to 40 pounds of bagged ice.
