Meet the Moderators: Arizona Media Association Promises Unprecedented Access for 2024 Political Debates
The Arizona Media Association is collaborating with numerous local media brands to broadcast political debates throughout Arizona for the 2024 election season.
Aiming to uphold democratic values, this initiative seeks to make the 2024 debates the most accessible in Arizona’s history. Confirmed debates will feature discussions on the US Senate race, US Congressional Districts, the Corporation Commission, and multiple county-level races during both the primary and general elections of 2024.
Here are our moderators for this significant effort:
Steve Goldstein brings 25 years of experience as an award-winning radio host and reporter in Phoenix. Known for his engaging discussions, his passion for politics has led him to frequent interactions with politicians from both major parties. Goldstein is also a familiar face on local TV political affairs programs.
Jim Nintzel, a seasoned political reporter for the TucsonSentinel, has spent over three decades in journalism. An award-winning reporter, Nintzel’s previous stints include Tucson Weekly and hosting a weekly political roundtable on the local PBS affiliate. He has also appeared on national networks like CBS, ABC, and CNN, and taught government reporting at the University of Arizona School of Journalism.
Mary Rábago, a prominent bilingual journalist in Arizona, has over 20 years of experience in Spanish-language media. She currently heads Mary Rabago Productions, focusing on vital topics like health, education, politics, immigration, and finance.
Richard Ruelas is a veteran journalist and Arizona native with more than 30 years in the field. A graduate of Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, Ruelas has worked for the Associated Press, Phoenix Gazette, and Arizona Republic, covering a wide range of stories including politics and crime. He has also served as a debate moderator for various organizations.
