A serious accident occurred on State Route 347 near Casa Blanca Road on October 8, 2024, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized. The collision, which took place shortly after 5 p.m., involved two sedans.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., reporters observed one vehicle disabled on the left shoulder and the second lodged in a ditch in the median. Following the crash, southbound traffic has been heavily impacted, with a backup extending nine miles from the city limits past Riggs Road, adding up to 35 minutes to drive times in the area.

An Arizona Department of Transportation representative noted, “There is heavy southbound traffic in the area, but that is not unusual for SR 347 during rush hour.” Although two individuals were taken to a local hospital, law enforcement officials have not disclosed the extent of their injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and a tow truck arrived on scene around 5:50 p.m. Efforts to clear the vehicles and restore normal traffic flow are ongoing.
