Brother testifies against Lori Vallow Daybell in murder conspiracy trial: Live updates from day 4

PHOENIX — The trial of Lori Vallow Daybell continues to reveal shocking testimonies as it enters its fourth day. Daybell faces charges of conspiracy in the murder of her former husband, Charles Vallow, and is representing herself. Her plea remains not guilty.

Day three featured gripping witnesses. Notably, a woman recounted her date with Charles Vallow just hours before his death. The atmosphere intensified with discussions surrounding dark spirits and allegations of Vallow Daybell attempting to drug her ex-husband with her child’s medicine. The proceedings also included a contentious exchange between Daybell and the aforementioned witness.

The morning session commenced with Adam Cox, Lori’s brother, providing insight into the family’s dynamics. He noted that over the past year and a half, Lori and her brother Alex exhibited an unusually close relationship. Furthermore, he revealed Lori’s marital issues with Charles Vallow and shared her claims about being on a journey toward becoming an immortal being, which raised significant concern within the family.

As the trial unfolds, procedural changes have been announced. The judge indicated that sessions will now be held on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 AM.

In the courtroom, Lori Vallow Daybell appeared in a black blazer, and members of the public and media awaited access to observe the proceedings. Among them was Colby Ryan, Daybell’s adult son, who is on the prosecution’s witness list.

This case is particularly complex. Vallow Daybell has prior convictions in Idaho for the murders of her children, Tylee and JJ, as well as her role in the death of Tammy Daybell, her current husband Chad’s first wife. Chad Daybell has also been convicted and sentenced to death in connection with these cases. Lori was extradited to Arizona following her 2023 convictions in Idaho.

Notably, her brother, Alex Cox, cannot be prosecuted in this case due to his death in December 2019, before any charges were filed.
