LIVE: Maricopa, Pinal County election results

Arizona’s primary election polls have now closed, marking the start of vote-counting. Pinal County began posting results at 8 p.m., although it will take several days to finalize the total count. Early results will reflect ballots received by the county recorder from July 3 to 26.

The competition remains tight for various city and county positions. Early polling from InMaricopa readers indicated potential frontrunners for tonight’s victories.

Mid-month polling showed incumbent Nancy Smith leading the city’s mayoral race, surpassing Leon Potter by 43 points. Vice Mayor Amber Liermann was the top choice among city council candidates, securing 69% of the vote. Incumbents Bob Marsh and Eric Goettl closely followed, while challengers Chrystal O’Jon and Le’on Willis lagged by substantial margins.

In county races, former Vice Mayor Rich Vitiello emerged as an early favorite for the District 1 supervisor position, with 75% support in initial polling.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
