Lake Havasu City: Major Roadwork Set to Conclude by Mid-December
Work on key roads in Lake Havasu City is nearing completion, and officials anticipate the end of road closures by mid-December. The City Core Pavement Project has involved significant repaving and water main replacement across various streets, specifically targeting downtown areas.
Notable streets affected include McCulloch Boulevard, Swanson Avenue, Smoketree Avenue, and Riviera Drive. The project has also seen the repainting of critical crosswalks and street lines on Main Street. City Manager Jess Knudson emphasized that the new paint features reflective glass particles to enhance visibility and safety for pedestrians.
As part of the ongoing improvements, segments of Lake Havasu Avenue and Mesquite Avenue have been repaved. Additionally, recent efforts have seen the deck of the iconic London Bridge undergo renovations as an extension of the city core project. Mayor Cal Sheehy provided an update, indicating that striping work will soon commence on Capri Boulevard.
However, the final step in this phase, the application of pavement preservation treatment, will be deferred until next year due to unfavorable weather conditions. This work is now projected for April. Earlier in May, fog and chip seals were applied to 13 different streets, including Cherry Tree, Jamaica, and S. Palo Verde Boulevards, as part of ongoing roadway enhancements.
Another segment of infrastructure work focused on S. Palo Verde Blvd, Industrial Blvd, and Kiowa Ave., involving both water main repairs and repaving efforts to improve overall road quality.
