Homestead man faces child porn charges after disturbing discovery

A 31-year-old man from Homestead, Lucas A. Scott, has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child after investigators from the Maricopa Police Department discovered a substantial collection of pornographic images of children on his cell phone.

Scott’s potential sentence ranges from 21 to 35 years in prison. According to the probable cause statement released by the police, the images involved children who were nude or partially nude, posing in explicit and inappropriate manners.

The investigation began in March when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Maricopa Police. This notification stemmed from Dropbox, an internet data storage provider, which reported that Scott was in possession of a video suspected to depict child pornography.

On July 31, police obtained a digital file from Dropbox containing 1,895 images and 38 videos linked to child sexual abuse. Specific ages of the children depicted in these materials were not disclosed.

A subsequent search warrant led officers to Scott’s vehicle, where they retrieved his cell phone. A forensic examination of the device uncovered hundreds of images of children, further corroborating the initial findings by law enforcement.
