Froyo Shop Takes the Throne in Maricopa’s Frozen Dessert Kingdom
Maricopa’s dessert landscape continues to evolve as Yogurt Jungle emerges victorious in a recent survey conducted by InMaricopa. The frozen yogurt shop captured the title of the town’s favorite frozen treat destination, outpacing eight competitors in a poll of 873 readers.
Receiving nearly one-third of the total votes, Yogurt Jungle stands out not just for its refreshing flavors but also for its extensive toppings bar, which employees believe fuels its popularity. “I think being able to be creative with your food is so exciting for the kids,” said Moshe Evans, a staff member and resident of Glennwilde. His colleague, Emily Turik, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the shop’s diverse offerings. “We have a bunch of different varieties, like dairy-free and sugar-free. We have something really for everybody and every diet,” she stated.
The competition was steep, with Cold Stone Creamery and Water & Ice taking second place, each garnering about 20% of the votes. Soon-to-open Baskin-Robbins secured fourth place with 8%, followed by Bahama Buck’s at 5%.
Yogurt Jungle has been serving up its cold delights since St. Patrick’s Day in 2011 and changed ownership in 2015. While the longevity seems to bode well for dessert shops, it didn’t help Nekter Juice Bar, which opened a year ago and finished last with under 2%. Meanwhile, the new La Michoacana managed just 4% of the votes, and even Maricopa’s Dairy Queen, a long-established ice cream parlor, languished in seventh place with a mere 3%.
