Ex-NHL Player Paul Bissonnette Attacked at Scottsdale Eatery
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Paul Bissonnette, formerly of the Arizona Coyotes, was hospitalized following an assault involving six men at Houston’s restaurant on Sunday night. The Scottsdale Police Department reported the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Scottsdale Road and McDonald Drive.
According to police, Bissonnette attempted to de-escalate an argument between the men and restaurant management. The confrontation quickly intensified, leading to Bissonnette being attacked both inside and outside the establishment.
Bissonnette sustained injuries from the altercation, though authorities confirmed these injuries were non-life-threatening. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The six assailants were subsequently arrested and now face charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
Bissonnette, who played for the Coyotes from 2009 to 2014, is recognized for his playing style and presence on the ice. While with the Coyotes, he logged 187 games, netting seven goals and 14 assists. Since his retirement from professional hockey, he has transitioned into broadcasting, co-hosting the well-known “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast and serving as an analyst for Turner Sports during NHL broadcasts.
