Former Havasu teacher pleads not guilty to charges involving runaway teen

On Monday, former Lake Havasu City school teacher Robyn Rogers, 44, entered not guilty pleas through her defense attorney, Bob Heieck. Rogers is accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy who went missing in mid-February.

During the court proceedings, Rogers participated via video from the Adult Detention Center, while Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen presided over the hearing from the Law and Justice Center. The arraignment was brief, with Rogers providing soft-spoken answers to routine questions.

Rogers faces two counts of sexual conduct with a minor for incidents alleged to have occurred in April and July at her residence on Beefeater Dr. Additionally, she is charged with custodial interference.

Authorities spotted the boy fleeing Rogers’ home when they approached her regarding the runaway. A brief foot chase ensued before the boy was detained.

Judge Jantzen cautioned Rogers about the severe prison sentences she could face if convicted of all charges. He set a pretrial conference date for August 26, noting a potential hearing next week to review Heieck’s request to lower Rogers’ $25,000 bond.
