ED3 named ‘Smart Energy Provider,’ the second ever in AZ

Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) received recognition as a Smart Energy Provider from the American Public Power Association (APPA) during a conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The announcement was made this morning, highlighting ED3’s commitment to innovative energy solutions.

This prestigious designation was awarded to over 100 utilities across the nation, with ED3 being only the second utility in Arizona to obtain the title. The Salt River Project, serving the East Valley from Tempe, previously earned this honor last year, as noted by APPA.

Erin Miller, Chair of the SEP Review Panel, described the designation as a testament to utilities that prioritize customer service while proactively planning for future energy needs. “We are honored to be recognized as a utility that has implemented best practices around energy services programming including residential demand response, rebates, and energy efficiency,” said Amy Goncalves, ED3’s energy services representative. She stressed that this recognition underscores their ongoing commitment to affordable energy solutions and environmental sustainability.

Goncalves further emphasized the importance of their initiatives in enhancing energy efficiency and supporting the community’s overall energy goals.
