Early Voting Kicks Off: Trump and Harris Hit the Campaign Trail in Key Battlegrounds

WASHINGTON — As Election Day draws near, millions of Americans are actively participating in the electoral process, with many ballots already submitted through mail and early voting. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are intensifying their campaigns across key battleground states.
Wisconsin commenced early in-person absentee voting earlier this week, joining several swing states where voters have started to exercise their right to vote, as reported by the Wisconsin Examiner. Georgia has experienced unprecedented early voter turnout, with over 1.4 million ballots cast in just the first week, which constitutes more than a quarter of the total voter turnout from the 2020 presidential election, according to the Georgia Recorder.
Recent national polls indicate that Harris has garnered particular support among younger voters. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday shows her with a 3-point lead, consistent with trends from the previous week. Furthermore, a quarterly survey by CNBC/Generation Lab reveals a significant 20-point advantage for Harris among those aged 18 to 34.
The Harris campaign has flagged an “opportunity agenda for Latino men,” aiming to provide 1 million forgivable loans, eliminate degree requirements for certain positions, and promote affordable home ownership for Latinos. These proposals reflect broader aspirations that Harris has championed across the board. Polls suggest she continues to outpace Trump among Latino voters in crucial states, including Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
In a contrasting show of support, a group of Christian Latino leaders gathered in Miami to praise Trump. During a roundtable event at the Trump National Doral Golf Club, religious figures prayed for his leadership. Guillermo Maldonado, a prominent pastor, articulated a belief that the election symbolizes a moral struggle rather than a political divide. After the prayer session, Trump’s campaign song resonated, while attendees enthusiastically presented items for him to autograph.
On the campaign trail, Trump accused Harris of laziness and questioned her intelligence during a speech yesterday. Meanwhile, Harris joined forces with former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney in suburban areas of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Cheney expressed her endorsement of Harris, emphasizing a commitment to constitutional principles.
She is scheduled to record interviews with NBC and Telemundo later today and will participate in a CNN town hall in Pennsylvania this evening. A “Get Out the Vote” rally featuring Harris and former President Barack Obama, along with a performance by Bruce Springsteen, is scheduled in Georgia to encourage early voting.
Conversely, Trump has canceled several planned appearances, including a keynote speech at a National Rifle Association event in Georgia and an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes.” However, he will still host rallies in North Carolina and Georgia this week, culminating in a keynote address at Turning Point’s “United for Change Rally” in Las Vegas.
