Dust and Rain Set to Disrupt Your Evening Commute

Maricopa, AZ – March 13, 2025. A significant dust storm has moved through the region, driven by a low-pressure system originating from California. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued wind and blowing dust advisories for western Pinal County, which includes Maricopa.
The advisories indicate that residents can anticipate wind gusts reaching between 20 to 45 miles per hour. The dust advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m., while the wind advisory will last until 8 p.m. NWS Meteorologist Katherine Berislazich noted that this weather pattern is likely to disrupt local conditions.
Visibility is expected to be greatly reduced, dropping to as little as one-quarter mile due to the blowing dust. As evening approaches, the ongoing storm could impact the nightly commute.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution, particularly in areas where visibility may suddenly decrease. In addition to the dust, rain showers are anticipated to roll in between 5 and 6 p.m., potentially affecting plans for viewing tonight’s lunar eclipse.
Looking ahead, tomorrow could present a continued chance of rain as a weaker weather system is expected to move through the area.
