A box truck filled with pesticide collided with a semi-truck early Friday morning, causing significant disruptions on State Route 347 in Maricopa. The incident occurred at approximately 8:43 a.m. at the intersection of SR-347 and Riggs Road, resulting in injuries to the driver of the box truck.

The Arizona Department of Transportation reports that the northbound lanes of SR-347 are currently closed, starting from Casa Blanca Road. Emergency responders, including the Gila River Fire and Police Departments, are on-site assisting with the situation.

As a result of the collision, the box truck rolled over, leading to a hazardous spill of pesticide. Cleanup crews are working diligently to manage both the removal of the vehicles and the containment of the spill. Authorities anticipate a lengthy closure to ensure safety, advising motorists to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

As of 9:34 a.m., the driver of the box truck has been transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. By 10:20 a.m., the left lane of the northbound SR-347 has reopened, although the right lane remains blocked near Riggs Road. It is expected that SR-347 will fully reopen before 1:00 p.m. as cleanup efforts continue.
